Rockstar Games has been quietly building toward what might be the biggest entertainment launch in history. Here's everything officially confirmed about Grand Theft Auto VI.
Release Date & Platforms
GTA VI launches November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only. Pre-orders opened June 25, 2026. Pre-loading begins November 12.
No PC version at launch. Rockstar has not announced a PC release date — historically, their PC ports arrive 12-18 months after consoles. Expect late 2027 or early 2028.
No GTA Online at launch. Single-player only on day one. Online will arrive as a free update post-launch, following the GTA V pattern.
Setting: The State of Leonida
GTA VI takes place in Leonida, Rockstar's fictional version of Florida. The map includes:

Protagonists: Lucia & Jason
GTA VI features two playable protagonists in a Bonnie & Clyde-style crime romance:
Lucia Caminos — Tough, fresh out of prison. Her father taught her to fight. She's determined to escape her circumstances "by any means." First female protagonist in the modern GTA era.
Jason Duval — Ex-military, fell into drug smuggling in the Keys. Street-smart with a dry sense of humor. Wants an easy life that keeps getting harder.
You can switch between them at will, similar to GTA V's character system.
